migration and population
Situated at the nexus of migration studies, demography, policy analysis and urban studies, this thematic cluster tackles migration and the continuously changing composition of the population. Across the world, migration is driving the growth but also sometimes shrinkage of cities and wider regions. Understanding how this movement of people shapes our cities, how city, national and European layers of governance aim to 'manage' in different ways migrant groups, and how cities are both opportunity structures and constraints for newcomers is core to this thematic cluster.
