Yipeng Liu is a PhD researcher at the Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), under the supervision of Prof. Kobe Boussauw and Prof. Geert te Boveldt. His research focuses on urban spatial structure, public transport accessibility, and socio-spatial inequality. Through a comparative study of Zhengzhou, China, and Brussels, Belgium, he examines how urban development patterns influence accessibility to urban opportunities across different social groups.
Yipeng holds a master's degree in Immigration, Population Mobility and Regional Planning from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, and a bachelor's degree in Human Geography and Urban–Rural Planning from Henan University of Economics and Law, China. His previous research explored transport accessibility in disadvantaged rural areas and geopolitical perceptions of Chinese cultural institutions in Germany, reflecting his broader interest in the relationships between space, mobility, and society.
