Marlen Komorowski (PhD) is senior researcher and guest professor at VUB and workd for the research group SMIT (Studies on Media, Innovation and Technology). She is also affiliated with Cardiff University, where she works as impact analyst and researcher for the Clwstwr programme (a 5-year programme to support the local creative and cultural industries in Wales). Additionally, she works as independent consultant on research projects and teaching assignments in different countries.

As researcher her work focuses on media and creative industries-related projects, impact analysis, industry clustering, ecosystem and value network analysis, new business models and the impact of the digitization on industries and firms. She has published in international A1 journals in this field. In 2020, her first book called "Creative Cluster Development" was published by Routledge.
