Judith Cools is a PhD Researcher at the VUB at the department of Architectural Engineering. Through researching the cultural value of building fragments she tries to find a greater connection between built heritage and a circular building.
Judith Cools (°2002) is a PhD researcher at department architectural engineering of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She obtained her masters degree in architectural engineering in june 2025 within the Bruface program (VUB x ULB). To obtain this degree she wrote a master's thesis with the following title: "A circular turn in heritage. Spolia, a bridge between past and present in Brussels' and Flemish contemporary preservation practices", under the supervision of prof. Stephanie Van de Voorde and prof. Waldo Galle. In the academic year of 2023-2024 she did an Erasmus exchange with the Politecnico di Milano. In her PhD she plans to continue on the research performed in her master's thesis, funded by the department of architectural engineering.
