Ine Wouters is professor and head of the department of Architectural Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and involved in the ULB/VUB program in Architectural Heritage.

She is active in the scientific discipline of construction history and she studies actors and structures in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to deliver new insights in the built heritage and the maintenance and reuse thereof. Next to archive and literature study, the buildings and structures itself are an important object in her research.
