Céline Drieskens is a PhD researcher in the field of critical urban geography. Her research is part of a joint research project between Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research (VUB) and OSA Urbanism and Architecture (KULeuven).

Grounding herself on a critical understanding of the ‘right to housing’ and the notion of a ‘housing crisis’, her research further cements her dedication to urban housing and spatial justice. Her work examines the various ways through which radical housing politics and urban housing movements operate within, against, and beyond the structures of the state and capital to assert claims for the right to housing and a broader right to the city. Drawing on her involvement in housing activist collectives and informed by her personal lived experiences, her research adopts an engaged ethnographic action research approach, enabling her to foreground local specificity and uphold reciprocity.
