Aurore Fransolet is a guest professor at Cosmopolis, where she teaches the course “Greening the City” as part of the VUB-ULB MSc in Urban Studies.
She currently holds the Just Transitions Chair within the ULB-VUB SWIFFT Collective at the Université libre de Bruxelles and a postdoctoral position at Sciences Po Paris. She develops a research agenda in ecological economics on the governance of just transitions. Her work focuses on the institutional arrangements, political dynamics, and policy instruments that shape the making of a “social-ecological state” — one capable of addressing intertwined social inequalities and ecological degradation in an integrated manner. Initially centered on the Belgian multi-level governance system, her empirical work is increasingly expanding to European comparative analyses. Her research adopts a trans- and interdisciplinary perspective and combines qualitative and mixed methods with forward-looking approaches drawn from critical futures studies.
