Boud Verbeiren has a background in GIS and Remote Sensing. His core research interests and activities are the monitoring, mapping and modelling of spatial and temporal patterns of water-related phenomena in an urban context, with a specific focus on Brussels.

In many projects also citizen science plays an important role, letting citizen contribute actively to water managment at local scale in a context of co-creation. In addition to his limited part-time position as professor, he is spending most of his time managing the Flowbru.be hydrometeorological monitoring network of the Brussels water at the Brussels Company for Water Management (BMWB/SBGE).
