In the past, he worked towards this goal with the non-profit Toestand, by shaping unoccupied spaces into heterotopic 'third places' in the city, giving space to those who usually don't find any. As a member of the Brussles Parliament for the citizens' movement Agora.Brussels, this commitment found a political resonance by representing a randomly selected citizens' assembly in the formal political sphere. As a guest professor in the Urban Studies program, he coaches applied research by students on research questions from organisations, administrations and companies, thus bridging 'real world' problems with academic research. Additionally, he is dedicated to anchoring urban spaces for unexpected encounters and social engagement.
