architecture and the built environment
Cities are built-up areas and a historically informed understanding of how our cities as material, architectural infrastructures function and condition our social interactions is essential to urban studies. In this module, you are invited to scrutinize architectural form, housing typologies or the socio-cultural dimensions of the built environment, ranging from settlement structures in the Middle Ages to contemporary discussions on housing activism and commoning.
