Valerie De Craene

Her research is situated within geographies of sexualities, and manifestations of difference and inequality in the organisation of space more broadly, often linking these with questions about housing and home making practices (e.g. for older adults). Underneath these interests lies a fundamental concern about different dynamics and power relations related to the production of knowledge itself, and which types of knowledges and knowledge producers are validated while others are marginalised. Her work therefore also touches upon epistemological, methodological and ethical dimensions of doing embodied research in relation to production of knowledges within and beyond academia, and questions about the political economy and organisation of higher education. Or, in other words, Valerie's work not only deals with manifestations of difference and inequality in the organisation of space, but also how knowledge about these manifestations comes into being.
