Koen Mommens is associate professor in the mobilise research group.

He acquired the degree of Master of Science in Geography at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in cooperation with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. He developed the LAMBTOP (Location Analysis Model for Belgian Transport Of Pallets), which calculates the feasibility of palletized goods for a modal shift towards the inland waterways. Currently, his work focuses on the agent-based freight model for Belgium, called TRABAM. TRABAM enables impact assessments in the field of external cost calculations, e-commerce, construction, logistics, road pricing, city distribution and night time deliveries.
