The Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research and Brussels Centre for Urban Studies are looking for colleagues in urban studies and planning! Join an expanding research community, with a track record in internationally and locally relevant research, and with a strong educational portfolio covering urban studies, spatial planning and design, and human geography.
Research tasks:
- You will strengthen the research capacity of the Cosmopolis Centre for Urban Research and the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies, primarily by bringing in new but complementary urban research niches.
- You will realize quality research output.
- You will (co-)supervise PhD researchers.
- You will apply for research funding at relevant levels (Brussels, Flemish, Belgian, EU).
Education tasks:
- Your educational tasks can involve the (co-)supervision of master’s theses (MSc Urban Studies, MSc 4Cities, MSc Spatial Planning and Urban Design, MSc Geography) and bachelor’s theses (BSc Geography).
- Depending on your profile, opportunities also exist for guest lectures or (co-)teaching existing course units within the mentioned programmes.
Profile:
- You have a PhD in urban studies, human geography, spatial planning and urban design or related domains.
- You have at least two years of postdoc research experience;
- You have an excellent track record in urban research as shown by: high-quality research output; international visibility within the relevant networks; experience with or potential for successfully acquiring research funding at different levels; experience with or potential for successfully supervising PhD researchers.
- As this is a small part-time position, we are looking for colleagues who already have a substantive (possibly tenured) position that can be combined with a 10 % professorship in Brussels.
Offer:
You’ll be offered an appointment as a professor, for an assignment of 0.1 FTE, for 3 years (renewable, on the condition of the positive evaluation of the activities and pending funding availability), with a planned starting date of 01/02/2023 (a later date is possible).
