responsibilities
- keep the website up to date
- assist with production and distribution of content for the website and social media channels (currently: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
- proofread and edit communication materials
- monitor the Centre’s social media channels to ensure responsiveness to questions and comments of readers
- act as an intermediary between the Centre’s management team, graphic designer and affiliated members and research units
- monitor the public communication of affiliated members and research units in order to share relevant output on the Centre’s website and social media channels
- assist with writing internal and external content on initiatives related to the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies
- contribute your own creative ideas on how to improve the Centre’s communication strategy
skills, knowledge, experience needed
- fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch, French and other languages is a plus
- interested in and ideally with some knowledge of the field of urban studies
- excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- an eye for good design. Basic skills in photo/image editing and in using relevant software
- some experience with Drupal-based websites is a plus
- avid media consumer and digital / social media communicator
- accurate and careful attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- eager to join and engage with a small team, but also ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/tasks
additional information
We envisage a 20 % contract, but exact working days and times are quite flexible. Working from home is possible (and compulsory at the moment due to covid restrictions), but regular attendance at the Centre’s offices in Brussels is preferred in order to allow for informal interaction and sharing of information and ideas.
Only self-supporting PhD students and students currently enrolled (at least part-time) in a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme during this academic term, preferably in urban studies, communication studies or related fields, are eligible.
