Job vacancy: researcher and community engagement coordinator

A futuristic drawing of the year 2000, with flying cars and people walking around
The Brussels Centre for Urban Studies is looking for a researcher and community engagement coordinator!

The position is for three years and part-time (40-80 %), but the exact percentage is negotiable and dependent on the skillset of the candidate.

The successful applicant will be playing a key role in research project support, working closely together with other researchers and project supervisors.

Responsibilities include:

  • setting up local and international expert panels;
  • liaising with policy makers, administrations and communities in Brussels;
  • supporting design studio’s and scenario development workshops;
  • leading on public (online and offline) dissemination of research results;
  • and overall research assistance and project support where needed.

Due to the nature of currently funded projects, we are specifically interested in receiving applications from candidates with strong graphic skills as well as a background and network in culture and the arts. Interest or experience in the redevelopment of vacant spaces and collective action is also very welcome. Being fluent in French and English is a requirement for this position, as we are part of international networks while also engaging stakeholders and communities in Brussels. Active knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

Interested in applying? Submit your application (motivation letter, CV and–if applicable–portfolio) to Prof. Bas van Heur via e-mail: bas.van.heur@vub.be. Please also use this e-mail address if you have any questions on the vacancy before applying.
