The Transbaso-project is a research collaboration between VUB (POLI), Ghent University (SDL, CuDOS), UAntwerpen (IOIW), Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool (Kronos, Sociaal Werk) and HoGent (Faculteit Mens en Welzijn).  The aim of the project is, first of all, to unravel the mechanisms underlying educational choice at the transition from primary to secondary education and, secondly, to assess the effectiveness of tools aimed at facilitating this transition.

Simon Boone obtained his PhD in Sociology from Ghent University (2013), with a dissertation focusing on social disparities in educational choice at the transition from primary to secondary education in Flanders. His research revolved around the determining factors at the family- and school-level.

His research interests include educational inequality, education systems, school effects, mixed methods research.
