Ir. arch. Louis Vandenabeele is a PhD researcher at the Department of Architectural Engineering of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He obtained the degree of “Master of Sciences in Architectural Engineering” at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in 2014. Later that year he started his PhD research under the supervision of prof. dr. ir. arch. Ine Wouters (VUB), prof. dr. Inge Bertels (VUB) and prof. dr. ir. Stefan Holzer (Universität der Bundeswehr München). His research focuses on the study and assessment of historical timber roof structures from the nineteenth and early twentieth century. For this research he received a PhD grant from the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) in January 2015.
