Doing research can be a lonely activity, but it doesn't have to be. The Brussels Graduate School for Urban Research supports and actively encourages PhDs and other researchers to participate in various informal social activities and networks that contribute to a sense of community among urban scholars in Brussels.
The Brussels Graduate School for Urban Research operates its own mailing list, which is used to communicate relevant urban research events, news and other information to all subscribers. All PhDs doing research on urban issues at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) will be automatically added to the list, but the mailing list is open to others interested.
In order to subscribe to the mailing list, please send an e-mail to the Graduate School coordinator Parastou Saberi. Once subscribed, you can post info to the mailing list by using the following e-mail address: email@example.com.
Open to everyone interested in urban research in Brussels, the Facebook Group of the Brussels Graduate School for Urban Research will also be used to communicate urban research events, news and other information. In addition, the group functions as an informal space for PhD and other researchers to share resources, discuss research and identify work or other opportunities (within or outside of academia) more or less related to urban issues.
Join the Facebook Group by visiting the following page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/urbanresearchbrussels.
Drinks with fellow urban researchers in Belgium. Irregular, but approximately once every 4-6 weeks. Please check our Facebook Group for date announcements.
The UrbanBorrel always takes place at Cafe Verschueren, Parvis de St-Gilles. Ten minutes walking from the Brussels South station or take pre-metro 3, 4 or 51 (all from the same underground platform) to Parvis de St-Gilles. Also not that far from Hallepoort station on the 2/6 metro.
